Firefall is an MMO FPS currently under development at Red 5 Studios – a group made up of many former World of WarCraft designers and developers including former Team Lead Mark Kern. It looks a bit like Borderlands mashed up with some elements of older Unreal Tournament titles, if you ask me. I’m looking forward to at least giving it a try. I was (and still am) disappointed with just about every other MMO FPS on the market.
Some of you noticed that we quietly removed Random Hotness from the site a few days ago. There was a method to our madness. We’re working on something of a replacement.
Philip Warren has spent the past 62 years building matchstick replicas of the Royal Navy’s warships. He started when he was 17. He’s built 432 to date. Warren uses a razor blade, tweezers and sandpaper to carve the matches into shape.
You can read more about his creations (and see more photos) here.
We don’t give PS3 games a lot of coverage here on What The Christ? – largely because I didn’t own the console until recently and therefore couldn’t speak to the quality of games. I must admit, however, that this gameplay footage from inFamous 2 – shown last weekend at PAX 2010 – looks awesome. I’m currently playing through the first inFamous and aside from a few minor complaints, it’s a great game.
This shot was taken back in mid-August by Yuri Beletsky, the “Photo Ambassador” for the European Southern Observatory. The laser in the picture is essentially being used to create an artificial star 56 miles above the Earth. If you’re interested in the technical details, check out the ESO website.
This clip came out of PAX 2010 this past weekend. I honestly hadn’t paid much attention to TRON: Evolution before this but it now has my undivided attention. It’s essentially Mirror’s Edge, Crackdown, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed all rolled into one gorgeous looking package. I’m seriously considering a purchase.
